Hello to all of You.

Hello, I'm Deborah, I have just become a member, I am evolving calmly into my middle-aged self, (57) the mother of one grown son, I am a life long letter writer, an avid reader and book lover. My needlework skills are mostly self taught, however my fondest memory was learning to hand sew from my grandmother which led me to a life long interest in sewing and other forms of needlework. I learned to hand sew as a child and continued on from there taking sewing classes in High School.

I learned to crochet at 13 and I still love it. I look back to the days when on the fringes of being a budding flower child I started to hand embroider and string love bead which lead me to beading and jewelry crafting, I collect vintage jewelry, always looking for the perfect piece of old jewelry I can remake into something unique. I do some paper crafting.

I love old buttons, memories of playing with my grandmother's button tins come to mind whenever I see a jar or tin of buttons at a flea market or antique shop. I love vintage fabrics and hand embroidered linens, and try not to pass up looking through stacks of old handkerchiefs.

This year I am determined to finally stop waiting and start a large cross stitch pattern, I love Joan Elliot's designs have gone out of my way and spent far too much money to let the pattern books and supplies just wait for me to grow confident.

Outside of needle crafting, I am an avid reader and never without a book. I have a small garden that I love and hate relationship with. I enjoy the outdoors and start each day with a walk. I strive to keep a healthy balance of body mind and spirit most times the body is willing but the mind has its own agenda.

I look forward to getting to know all of you through this blog site with all it has to offer.
I will post my wish list in a few days.
