I'm back and I have received a wonderful RAK.

Hello Everyone, I'm Deborah and I have rejoined the site after several months away, I didn't expect to be gone for so long but I am happy to be back.

A few days ago I received a wonderful surprise in the mail from Jacquie M. my first ever RAK, I can tell you I was so thrilled to open the package and find spring stitchery items inside.

This first photo shows everything that was packed into my box
The Friendship Grows box is just lovely and tucked inside were some tasty chocolates and you can guess I did munch one while I was snapping photos.

Chocolates
The Easter Wishes Egg makes me wish that someday my stitching will be half as good. I'll and the egg to my Easter Centerpiece basket.
Also in the box were these lovely pastel buttons, I have loved and collected buttons since I was a child and these will work out nicely for a project I have on my drawing board.
The tin dove was tucked into the Friendship Grows box and is now hanging from the arm of my reading lamp.

The handcrafted giving Bunny is so adorable and I was planning to make a few of them myself to send off to friends and leave a few anonymously here and there. Here is the link for the Giving Bunny project http://www.urbanthreads.com/tutorials.aspx?t=The+Giving+Bunny+Project

The teapot and the floral frame pattern are so me, and the little sketchbook with the window frame just waiting for a small cross stitch piece will come in handy.

There are strips of ribbon, a scented candle and a copy of Cross Stitch Crazy magazine pieces of pink and yellow aida cloth, ribbons and embroidery floss all which will be used in future projects.

Thank you Jacquie for the lovely RAK it certainly brightened my day.

Hello Everyone!

I'm finally officially a member of RAK and I'm very excited about it.  I love putting little gifts together and sending them out to brighten someone's day.  I'm LindaLee from Cross'N My Stitches, and have been blogging for about three years. Love meeting people and making friends.  Here's a picture of me and my dear hubby, Bill.

I love to cross stitch and I actually do nearly any kind of needlework.  My mother taught me to knit when I was five.  I'll never forget looking at the little swatch I was working on and seeing holes here and there in it.  I'd drop a stitch and my mom would put it back on the needle.  Good memories.

Bill and I live in eastern North Carolina.  Both transplants from New Hampshire and we do love the warmer climate here.  There will always be things that we miss from back home though.

I have a surprise gift ready to go, but do not have the receiver's address.  Are the member's address posted somewhere here on RAK? Any help would be appreciated.

Stop by my blog sometime for a visit and see what I might be working on at the time.  I love meeting people.  My wish list is posted there also.

Color? If you love it you can feel it!

I have finally posted it!

(Borrowed from Google Images)

Hello stitchy friends,..

I just wanted to say a huge thank you for being patient with me ... I hear you all say "What for??" Well I have been a member of the group for a little while now and only just managed to get my RAK out!

I really did enjoy putting the RAK together but I have to tell you it did cause me some stress wondering who to send it to.  In the end after taking a little advice form a fellow stitcher I put names in a hat and my husband pulled the ticket out with the person's name!  So it was totally done at random!

I noticed that some of you have wish lists... I have now joined in on this!  I was worried about doing a wish list but then thought its only somewhere to put everything I like and love and hope to buy one day to stitch!  Some of your wish lists are amazing and I wish I was a lottery winner so I could buy you each something.  :)

So the main reason for this post was really to say I have done it and its gone and apparently it will or should arrive at its destination hopefully soon!!  This is the very first RAK I have sent out so naturally I am anxious... hopefully the next one I send out will be less stressful!

I love to give and hope that the person I have sent it to likes it...

Happy stitching everyone :)

03/04/2014
Hello from Aurora, Colorado!  My name is Michele Stravato and I am new to the group.  I tried to post a couple of days ago without much luck, so hopefully this one will work.

I am married with two teen-age, soccer playing boys, so yes, I am busy.  Luckily my husband does all the cooking and grocery shopping. He also works from home, which helps with the boys crazy schedules.  Besides soccer, the boys are also  participating in their high school robotics program. The district competition is April 3-5 and assuming they do not make it to the national competition, our lives will slow down slightly after April 5.

I first learned cross stitching in high school and try and find time every day for at least a little stitching.  I love to  read trashy paranormal romance stories on my Nook and I was into vampires looooooooong before they became trendy or sparkled.

My hair is strawberry blonde, my favorite color is purple and I am very excited to join this group!

Fairies anyone?

The below booklet is one that I would love to pass along to another stitcher.  It  has the three charts shown in the picture. I have already stitched the one I bought the booklet for and would much rather send it to someone who would like it than for it to sit in a drawer.  If you are interested please leave a comment and if there is more than one I will use the random number generator to choose. I am more than happy to send anywhere!

Hello from Gillie!

Well, having sent off my first RAK, suppose I had better introduce myself!  Though looking at the list I know most, if not all of you, through blogs, groups and even face to face!

I'm Gillie, wife to the World Traveller, who doesn't quite as much now, thank goodness and mostly now in the US.  We live on a small lake in south west Michigan which right now is giving me fits as it has been frozen and covered with the white stuff for about five weeks. that coupled with the sun gives me migraines.....

We have three children living in Wyoming, Pittsburgh and DC with grandchildren (four and a "borrowed" one) so we accumulate a lot of air miles and I can tell you where the Starbucks are in quite a few airports!  We are British but the US kindly gave us citizenship a couple of years ago.

I fell into the blogging world via The Cross Stitch Guild forum where I saw that someone living in Gloucestershire had a blog.  A blog? What's that, for goodness sake?  Well, I took the plunge and began a blog and five or six years later here I still am, I blog at Random Thoughts from Abroad, please pop over and say hi!

Friday, February 7, 2014

Thanks, Gillie!

I'm popping in quick to say thank you to Gillie for brightening what has been a very long week due to the ice storms our area suffered earlier in the week.  I was so surprised to find an envelope in my mailbox containing the sweetest little ornament finish that I had admired on her blog, Random Thoughts from Abroad.  I was giddy like a schoolgirl!!  I hope to post on my blog soon and will show a picture there.
Thanks again, Gillie....it was truly a random act and a complete surprise!

Would Like to introduce myself...

Hello every one :)

My name is Jacquie and I am 42 years old.  I have complex learning difficulties.... dyslexia, dyspraxia and dyscalculia but I dont let them hold me back!

I love learning new things and challenging myself.  I have been doing counted cross stitch for years now...I forget how many!  I am self taught so always open to advice and tips.  I love cross stitching its taught me lots of things....patience for one!  Up until recently I only ever stitched on Aida..various counts.  I thought for 2014 I would challenge myself to try to stitch on linen.  I bought a chart and sourced all the threads and then I started on linen...

This is where I am right now.... its been a real joy stitching so far.  The chart is called Sampler Game Board by The Drawn Thread and I am very proud of myself for attempting this.  I do hope to have it finished soon.  As for other things I have stitched... I am on Google + and have a folder where I put all my work... feel free to take a peek HERE.  I dont really have a particular taste when it comes to stitching... I just stitch what makes me happy.  I love all the American charts, they just all seem so cute.  I subscribe to Just Cross Stitch (American Magazine) via digital subscription as there is nothing like it in England.  As far as English magazines I subscribe to The World Of Cross Stitching, Cross Stitch Crazy and Cross Stitch Gold... never have too many magazines!

Recently I was in Cross Stitch Crazy... issue 185

And The World Of Cross Stitching... issue 213

I live at home with my husband who I now care for due to an accident he had at work during 2010.  I also have an 18 nearly 19 year old daughter who is at college studying art and design.  Here is a photo of my daughter and I ..

I live in Southern England, returned in 2010 as my parents live here ... I class myself as being continental as I have grown up in Germany and worked and lived in France too.  I love to travel and see new places.... I would love to visit the USA and Canada at some point just to see it and experience it for myself.

I do have a blog, I blog daily as I am on a mission.... I have been blogging for just over a year now to help me lose weight.  I photograph everything I eat.  I chat about what goes on in my daily life... and cross stitch!  Its been a really valuable tool for me as I can look at how far I  have come.  I am healthier and actually slimmer too.... still have more weight to lose but its about nearly 5 stone now... around 70 pounds.  I feel better and am loving how I am changing.  One last photo to share and that is of my changing face... this is the one that shocks me the most and the one that drives me forward to lose more weight..

HERE is the link to my blog :)

That is me!!

:)

Happy birthday Gracie!

May all your dreams come true and all your wishes be granted! Happy birthday dear Gracie!

Giveaway winner and new members announcement!

Yesterday I asked my MIL to draw a name of my giveaway winner and she picked Butterfly (June). What a coincidence - I was a winner of her giveaway just a day before! Well, I thought about it and thought some little more and ask her to draw a second name... This time she picked Catherine. I decided to send not one but two giveaways, both ladies will receive a surprise package from me. Congratulations to both of you!

And we have three new members. Tricia, Jacquie and Gillie decided to join our little group - here is a big hug to all of you! Shortly I will email to each member an updated mailing list. Please let me know if you did not receive it, maybe I'm missing your email address. The list will go out in the next thirty minutes.

It would be lovely if our newest members can introduce themselves by making a post on this blog.

I was also thinking about a welcome package to our new members. Does anybody has any ideas? Your input is precious!

So long my friends,
Evalina

Jungle Baby

I would be happy to send this chart to a new home. I stitched it as a gift for a first time mom of twins and am now hoping someone else will enjoy it.  It was such a fun stitch.  Don't know anyone that's expecting???  Each square would look great stitched separately as an ornie or just take off the bottom band for the name. I  am willing to ship anywhere!  Please leave a comment if you are interested.  If more than one stitcher is interested,  I'll do a random draw :)

Here's the lovely RAK I received from Evalina before Christmas .. love the pattern and the threads!

Giveaway

Hi every one  Happy New Year  , lets start off the New Year with another Giveaway , I know the last few months we have all been so busy with  family life and Christmas there is always so much to do at this time of the year.
And I also agree that the cost of postage is so much money now, but if we keep the giveaways small  I am sure we can still have fun.
So here is just the chart of Mill Hill " Welcome Home " this is the Calender series January .
So if you would like to stitch this design I think we could start a rolling chart so when you have stitched it put it back on the this site for someone else to stitch , but because we are all so busy there is no time limit, I will enclose a card and we can write down our name when we have stitched it but like I say no rush , just enjoy stitching it when you can.
There is a little bead work but you can leave them out and just stitch , so you will only get the chart and I will send you also one of my Butterfly ribbon holders with ribbon .
You have to be a member of this site and just leave a comment , I will leave it open until the end of the month then I will let you know the winner.

Giveaway for Members of this Blog- Edited

Sorry: I wasn't very clear, so have added some bits for clarity.

Phew...well, thank goodness that is cleared up!  Thank you Evalina for taking over management of the blog and thank you Mouse for offering as well: two heads are better than one so it is nice to know someone else is prepared to help should the need arise.

Caroline, please look after yourself and for everyone suffering at the moment with health issues, you are in my prayers.

I recently had a giveaway on my blog and sent it this week...OMgoodness, the postage costs!  It cost almost as much as the items in the parcel!
And I know how much more it is for our friends in the USA...a country we normally associate low costs with has actually managed to get something more expensive than Ireland...are rare feat!  Such a shame for businesses though who rely on international trade..but I digress.

I am still not working as I still have lots of hospital appointments and yet I really wanted to offer an RAK.  What to do?  I was talking to my craft group about it last night and they come up with what I hope is a great suggestion!

I am quite new to designing charts and really do it for fun and therapy but I have a few now with more in the pipeline.  So for members of this blog (and you have to be a member) I would like to RAK gift you any single chart of your choice.  You can see them all along the top bar of my blog.
Simply leave a comment saying which chart you would like (if any: I won't be offended if you don't want one lol) and an email address and I will send you a pdf version!

THIS IS NOT A DRAW: YOU WILL RECEIVE YOUR FAVOURITE CHART.  ;-)
...one of each member who wants one so please leave contact details, an email address pref. and the title of the chart you would like.  If you go along the top bar of my blog you will see the different categories and the charts I have available to date.  Please leave your information on this post only, not my blog! This is only open to members of our RAK community xx

Oh, and don't forget to check out the previous post by Evalina who is also offering a giveaway!

So that is my contribution for now: Have a very Happy New Year and if you are in an area affected by snow/sun or floods, please keep safe!
xx

Happy New Year! Is anyone interested in this Blog?

Hello to all of you,

I hope everyone's New Year is going well. For the last few weeks I have been rolling this over and over in my head regarding this blog. I had every intention of doing a great job and being there for everyone. Last year my family and I were busy with moving into a new house. We are settled in but still things aren't quite there. I think moving takes more then one year to get everything in order. We have more stuff then I ever realized. Anyway on with what I'm really here for.

Last year some time I developed a health issue. Well now it seems I have two. I won't go into them as I'm sure you all have your own things going on. One of the health issues will include surgery and I'm not sure when as of yet. I will be seeing a surgeon on the 16th. I am hoping this issue can help clear up the other issue. I am really hoping and praying.

So with that in mind. I don't think I should be counted on as far as this blog goes. I think someone needs to be here for questions and keeping the blog, stitchers addresses and everything else current. It isn't like you have to be right on top of it.

I personally don't know what to do at this point. If anyone has suggestions please, please, let me know. So I want to step down and need someone to step into my place. It would be a big help to me at this point. I want to get my health back to normal so I can get on with it.

Hugs, Carolyn

Hello Everyone,

I will be your new host for this blog. If there are any questions you have regarding anything please send me an email. I am looking forward to getting to know each of you. This is my first attempt at being a host of a blog. If anyone has any suggestions please let me know. I hope we can do many fun things together.

I want to give a big "Thank You" to Angela for putting this blog and idea together and allowing me the opportunity to continue. If there are any questions that I can't answer she has graciously offered her service if needed. I hope I can fill her shoes.

Temporary Address Change/Group Changes Too!

Hi RAK Members!

Just wanted to let you all know that I am having to get all of my mail re-directed once again due to construction issues at my building.  I'll be sending out a new Member List later on tonight with my temporary address.  If you want to mail out any RAK's to me for the remainder of this year can you please use the temporary address.  Sorry for any confusion :)

I've made a few changes to the group.  I will continue to be hosting this blog and any future requests to join should still be sent to me (Angela) at apxstitch at gmail dot com.  It is no longer a requirement to send out the one RAK in the first year of joining this blog.  It's too confusing to keep track of it and it defeats the purpose of this blog which is to share kindness with others as you choose to.

If you have any questions please let me know.

RAK received!

Thank you so much Carolyn: your wonderful RAK arrived yesterday.   I love it.  It was perfect timing as I was as low as I could be waiting for my hospital appointment.

Thank you so much.

RE the hospital: it went well.  My surgeon came to see me even though he was meant to be on annual leave and I have had all sorts of tests done and will get the results next week.  He is an amazing Dr and I am really lucky to have him.

So all is well (or better than it was).

Carolyn sent me my three favourite things.  Tinkerbell and Daisies and the Sea!

A Tinkerball folder, a Tinkerbell Notebook, Tinkerbell tissue paper, Country Cottage Needleworks Surfside Cottage charts, which has the sea and the daisies on it,  the linen and the threads needed to stitch it.

It is all perfect.  Thank you so much Carolyn xxxxxxxxxx  It really did make a difference to my day xxxxxx

Three RAKs sent

There are three RaKs being sent; two hen pin cushion ones and a halloween hanger (there are little triangles on the back for you to add some wood (cant remember accurate term sorry) so you can hang it or use as a table mat.

I am so sorry but if they look like they have been shoved in envelopes and sent to you, it is because they have.  Most of you will know I had breast cancer just under two years ago: well everything started to fall apart on Friday and I spent all of Sunday in A and E.  I will get to see my specialists on Thursday so wish me luck.

I have got gift cards and wrapping paper but we have been so stressed I have done the usual...put them in a safe place and we are all too uptight to go around looking for them.  You know how it is; the more you look the less you see.

Know that they are being sent with love and I hope you enjoy them xxxxx

The Cat's Meow

That's what I felt like when I received this wonderful RAK from Kaye. She had a chart giveaway a couple of weeks ago and I was the lucky winner.

Accompanying the charts was one of the prettiest cards I've ever received.

Thank you so much Kaye for this wonderful RAK. I'm a huge fan of cats and these charts will be put to good use. I'm already trying to decide on a colour for the cat sampler.

RAK headed to....

I haven't done a RAK in months. I sent out a big yellow envelope to...I can't say...However I can tell you it is leaving the United States..I hope she likes her RAK! Hugs, Carolyn

RAK anyone???

Hi, I have been a bit lax re RAKs the past few months...so...for the chance of an RAK comment ONLY if you really, really, totally, completely love Halloween.  I don't mean like..I mean love.  You decorate your house, children, hubby, and the dogs and cats.

Is this you?
If it is let me know!

Now, I have some lovely pin cushions looking for good homes.....but again, comment only if you LOVE chickens.  I know, sounds weird.  You don't have to love them as much as my husband! But at least really like chucks!

Trust me rofl xxxxx  Let's give the Irish post some business ladies!!!
